First Post Placement and other fun stuff...

Today was our first post placement appointment with our social worker for SweetPea. I think it went swimmingly and the girls were hilarious while she was here. We have recognized that SweetPea's English is coming along very quickly, but our SW was shocked. She just couldn't get over how well SweetPea speaks. This, of course, made us very happy and I think SweetPea could tell we were really proud of her (not that we would not have been had she spoken less English).
It's been crazy busy in WheelerWorld over the past couple of weeks (em... excuse... lack of posts...). We took the girls (+ Cait Nard) down to visit D's parents in Florida. We were a little nervous that it was too early for SweetPea to do this trip, but she loved it. She liked Grandma's house quite a bit, and absolutely loved that she slept with D and I while we were there.

SweetPea got to so a lot of firsts on this trip. She went to her first theme park (love the annual passes to Universal) and she was pretty cool with it. She liked some of the rides, but some were a little scary (just a warning to those that go down there, the new Simpsons ride is super scary for little ones - I really got some bad parent Karma on that one). She absolutely loved meeting and hugging all of the characters and she actually helped Cait get over her fear (read: phobia) of people in costume. In fact, by the time we were leaving the park both Cait and SweetPea were on a character hunt.

SweetPea saw the ocean for the first time. She fears nothing when it comes to water, so I actually got very few pictures from that day because either D or I had to always have our hands on her. She would plop herself down in the waves and get dragged under by the current and thought it was hilarious... I didn't find it quite so funny.

After we returned home The Bean went to Farm Camp. The Bean has been a horse nut from birth, so for her birthday this year we signed her up for the camp (which ended up being the same week as the CHI Zoo outing in Nashville; I was very disappointed that we missed it). She had the "best time of [her] life" except when the kids went swimming in the lake at the end of the day. She wanted NONE of that.

SweetPea would go out to the farm everyday with D to drop off and pick up The Bean, and she hated the place. She glared at all of the animals and spazzed out when bugs would come near her. In fact, she wore this expression through out the entire finale camp party that happened on the Friday of that week.

Last week really sucked for me 'cause we had a BIG problem at work and I was required to do some mad hours, but the family had fun. D's brother B came back in town and brought AO and NO. They went swimming a bunch of times and spent some time at the local bounce place.

One day (while I spent fifty-million hours on the phone with a customer) they all went out to Stone Mountain Park and took Cait Nard with them. D said it was a great time and The Bean hiked all the way up on her own (was not carried). Cait, however, found her Knight in shining armor in NO, who carried her most of the way up the rock and a big portion of the way back down (Given the difference in their sizes, it's hard to believe they are only 2 years apart in age.)

D's sister DJ also flew in on the 3rd. It was cool because she brought a completely hacked Xbox with her that had a ton of games on it (I'm not condoning the hacking, so back-off anonymous jiminy cricket).

The 4th is always a weird day for me. My parents always sold fireworks this time of year and it really began a huge distaste of all Independence day festivities for me at a very young age. So, the massive parade and way over done fireworks display that goes on here in town were both completely avoided by me. Is there a bah-humbug for the 4th? If so, I need to learn the expression; I'm tired of attempting to feign my delight over these activities. D and his sibs made sure the kids had fun, so that was cool (got me off the hook).

ok, so I forgive you for the lack of posting...I guess you have had quite a few other things happening..(he!he! ;)

loved getting the update on SweetPea and all the new experiences she has had recently.

Good job, Bean, for hiking all the way up. I can remember an uncle rescuing me on his back when we hiked in Lake Tahoe...I wasn't quite as ready as I thought, even though I INSISTED I was.

You're quite the busy family! Love seeing all the updates and especially the photos.

Ha! A kindred anti-firework fourth of July madness extravaganza spirit? I found myself pretty repulsed this year by the parade of beer drinking, explosive blasting, cheesburger eating grossness in the name of the USA.

Congrats on the post placement passing! All the kids look so great and I hope you're having as much fun as they look like they are.

We just had our post-placement, too. Even when you think everything's going just great, it's nice to have someone "who knows" also agree with you. She seems like such a sweet, sweet girl and I can't imagine how her head must be swimming with all these new adventures and ideas. I know everyone cringes when we hear how lucky our kids are, but your kids ARE lucky. You're a good, intuitive, sweet mom. Thanks for posting.
