The Bean, First-Grader, At Last!!!

The Bean is a huge fan of the Junie B. Jones series by Barbara Park. Last year I read the whole kindergarten year to The Bean, and read the first of the First Grader, At Last to her a couple of weeks ago. Junie B. reminds me so much of my Sweet Bean.

Anyway, The Bean started First Grade on Monday. She was so nervous, and I was happy to be able to take the day off. It was so fun to take her and pick her up from school in the golf cart. We also met her teacher and found that she has a few friends from last year in the class as well. The Bean loves shool and I hope it will stay that way.
The week went pretty well except that I had to work practically day and night over the past week to resolve some issues at work. In fact, I think I may have dozed off on a couple of conference calls (I was on the phone).

On Thursday, The Bean came home from school with a nasty looking bump on her knee, a fever, and a sore throat. I have no idea what caused that bump, but it was pretty yucky and it was definitely painful for her. Luckily, D cleaned it up and bandaged it and it was mostly healed the next day. Her fever was gone by morning, but D did not send her to school yesterday because of the whole 24 Hr rule. Instead, D played many games of Uno, Pictionary, and Hulabaloo.

We have no major plans today, but I am sure there will be a request for Cait Nard to sleep over. I am so happy The Bean has such a good friend.

On the adoption front, it appears that one of our references got lost in the mail. We have asked that he send another reference letter to the SW. It is so annoying that this is all we need to move forward.

Hello fellow Vegas wife :)
Thanks for saying "hi" and for stopping by the blog. I love when people introduce themselves. Your daughter is absolutely gorgeous! Good luck with the adoption journey!!
Isn't it soooo exciting? I can't wait for the referral! Siblings would be a lot of fun!
