It's sort of unreal how we have all settled into a routine... I wake up, head out of the door for work for 10 - 12 hours a day, and then come home to two happy kids and a somewhat cranky husband. I spend a couple of hours with the happy kids before they go to bed, and then spend an hour or so with the slightly mood-improved husband and then I'm off to bed. Needless to say, I am currently only living for the weekend.
Work has gone all bonkers again. I've been out for parental leave (well up until they asked me to come back a week early), so some of things that I normally do were completely forgotten and left for when I came back (which left some BIG customers severely unhappy). Dad Nard has been out since right before we came home with SweetPea because Baby Nard #4 (I'll write more about her later, she is so tiny and cute) arrived early, so again some of the things he normally does was completely forgotten about(which again left more BIG customers severely unhappy.) Due to these issues, our management finally figured out that an ancient-racist-redneck that was in our group was completely incompetent. It was found that he was temporarily placating his not quite so big customers instead of actually fixing the problems that were affecting them. This led to a huge blow up of ego versus sense and mr-asshole-who-makes-sexist-racist-and-anti-homosexual-comments-under-his-breath now no longer has a job. I think the part that pisses me off the most about the situation is that some of the NASCAR fans (whom I had actually started to like) feel bad for him even though they were well aware that his lack-of-initiative-snoring-in-cubicle-only-at-work-six-hour days made their jobs more difficult. They have made statements that I am heartless. I am not heartless, just fed up. Ancient-Racist-Asshole had a job that paid very well and he pissed it away because he was too flippin' lazy to crunch some numbers and make some phone calls. I have no sympathy. NONE.
So, obviously, my work week sucked, and the only real highlights of the day came when I got home to two absolutely gorgeous girls and a rediculously handsome husband (Does that make up for my crankiness, D?) Anyway, D had to take SweetPea to get vaccinations today and she is so sore now that she can barely walk. I always hated when The Bean was a baby and they would load her thighs up with shots, but I had no idea how much worse it was going to be for SweetPea. She cries almost everytime she had to move her legs. We really do not like to medicate the children, but D and I broke down and gave her motrin for the pain (doctor recommended). It's just so sad to see her moving around like a little old lady when normally she buzzes through the house like a bee (and yes bumping into everything like they do).
D has been taking the girls to the pool and to a Moon-Bounce place almost everyday and they are loving it. They've also been playing together quite a bit more this week which is a definite improvement over last week's many many many arguments. D has been pretty much exhausted by the end of the day, but he really is going non-stop with the girls from the time they wake up. I think he accomplishes more in a day while toting both girls around town than I would all on my own. It's pretty impressive.
So far SweetPea is an amazingly sweet and funny little girl. She surprises me everyday with how fast she is learning both our culture and language. I try to speak my very little known Amharic to her as much as possible, but even when I do she mostly answers back in English. This may sound odd, but now it actually feels like she is family... she is my child.
And just because blogs bite without photos or video, I'll give you this one:
I just love it!

The blog makeover looke great!
The video of the girls dancing is way to cute. I love the break dancing moves, very nice!
Adorable video!!! :)
Andrew and I were cracking up at how cute they were...
Love the new layout and header!
And, I'm glad that rude dude is without a job. I've been called "heartless" before about things, but you know what, in situations like that-there's nothing wrong with not feeling bad for him.
I can't stand sexist jokes at work. Sometimes there's someone at work who borders on that and, well, it makes me uncomfortable.
Anywho, I'm sorry D seems cranky when you come home and that you have to live for the weekend, but I anticipate something similar in our future.
Thanks for updating! I love knowing what's going on...
and, I'm happy that they're getting along better this week.
:)
She is YOUR daughter. And, you have a beautiful fam!
OMG!!! The girls video cracked me up!! Love Beans Egyptian move!!
OK,Heartless?!!Ohhh, You are so heartless!!That's why I like you so much! Glad the jerk is gone!!
I've said it before, but the girls are definetly acting like sisters!!
The Bean has got some serious moves! I think Eskista looks pretty pop-y 'n loc-y, maybe they can work that in. These kids are going to have a hard time chosing whether to show up for the ANTM tryouts or the So you think you can dance ones. They rock!
Sorry about the work thing. I'm not looking forward to dealing with the return to full time, and I haven't even left yet. Your job is so lucky to have you.
